Specialist (m/f/d) in technology licensing with a focus on computer science and artificial intelligence
Max Planck Innovation GmbH, based in Munich, is the technology transfer office of the Max Planck Society (MPG), one of the largest non-university research institutions in Germany. The main task of Max Planck Innovation is the commercial exploitation of research results from currently 86 Max Planck Institutes and the support of Max Planck scientists in the foundation and financing of start-ups.

To support our team - consisting of physicists, chemists, biologists, business graduates and lawyers - we are looking for an experienced technology licensing specialist (m/f/d) with a background in computer science/software and experience with patenting, licensing of technologies to industry and start-ups.
The activities include the analysis of computer-implemented inventions/technologies, advising scientists on the protection of their software inventions, advising scientists in the preparation of possible company start-ups (e.g. EXIST grant programs) in teams with our start-up managers, dealing with open source software, initiating, negotiating and concluding license agreements with companies in Germany and abroad, and intensive project management. A command of the German and English language, both written and spoken, is mandatory. In particular, the activities include the support of the Max Planck Institutes in Tübingen and Stuttgart. A special focus is on "Cyber-Valley", Europe’s leading Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem, centered around Tübingen and Stuttgart. The candidate will be at the heart of a hub of vibrant startup activity and will contribute to the evolution of Cyber Valley. The place of work/residence may be Tübingen or Munich. The necessary presence at the Max Planck Institutes and at Max Planck Innovation is associated with a corresponding travel activity.
The ideal candidate has a broad network of personal contacts in research and industry, a strong interdisciplinary mindset, high motivation and initiative. Confidence in negotiating situations is expected. Experience in patenting/licensing computer-implemented inventions and/or in the software start-up scene is advantageous.
The salary follows TVöD Bund (public service) in salary group 13 or 14 + potential supplementary allowance, depending on the qualification of the candidate.
