Short Bio
Frank Schneider is an AI Researcher at Aleph Alpha, where he works on efficient and reliable methods for training deep-learning models. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Tübingen, completed within the International Max Planck Research School for Intelligent Systems. His research focuses on neural-network optimization, autonomous training algorithms, benchmarking, and tools for diagnosing and improving deep-learning systems. As a co-chair of the MLCommons Algorithms Working Group, he helped develop AlgoPerf, a community benchmark for evaluating the practical efficiency of neural-network training methods. Schneider led the Cyber Valley Research Fund project "Resource-efficient autonomous training algorithms for deep learning", connecting Tübingen-based foundational research with industrial AI development and more sustainable model training.
