Short Bio
Gerard Pons-Moll is a Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Tübingen, a core faculty member of the Tübingen AI Center, and a Research Advisor to Beyond Presence. He leads the Virtual Humans group, which develops computer-vision and machine-learning methods for understanding, modeling, and animating humans in 3D. His research combines human pose estimation, 3D human reconstruction, motion modeling, and generative AI, with applications in computer graphics, embodied AI, and digital humans. Pons-Moll previously worked at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen and now also leads research at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics. He is relevant to Cyber Valley through his Tübingen AI Center role, his connection to the region’s human-AI and embodied-intelligence research, and his work on virtual humans that informs robotics, human–computer interaction, and generative AI.
