Antonia Georgopoulou is a Cyber Valley Max Planck Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, where she leads the Cyborg Robotics and Intelligent Sensing (CyRIS) group. Her research bridges materials science, bioengineering, and robotics to develop soft and biohybrid robotic platforms with integrated intelligent sensing. Building on her work on electronic skin and multifunctional sensors, she develops adaptable robotic systems for complex real-world environments, including biohybrid interfaces that combine neural activity, sensing, and actuation. Georgopoulou joined MPI-IS in October 2025 after positions at Empa and EPFL, and was awarded the Women in Science (WINS) Fellowship in 2023. Her group strengthens Cyber Valley’s research at the intersection of robotics, intelligent materials, biohybrid systems, and embodied AI.
