Lukas Schott is a Data Engineer for LLM training at Aleph Alpha, where he works on developing sovereign large language models for Europe. He completed his PhD at the University of Tübingen as a member of the first cohort of the International Max Planck Research School for Intelligent Systems (IMPRS-IS), Cyber Valley’s graduate school, working with Matthias Bethge and Wieland Brendel. His research has focused on robust computer vision, visual representation learning, neural-network compression, and efficient model architectures, including work on adversarial robustness and mixture-of-depths routing. He previously worked at the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence and is an ELLIS member. Schott exemplifies Cyber Valley’s research-to-industry pathway: his Tübingen training in robust AI and efficient learning systems now informs the development of European foundation models at Aleph Alpha, a member of the Cyber Valley Start-up Network.
