Aamir Ahmad is a Tenure-Track Professor of Flight Robotics at the University of Stuttgart and a Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen, where he leads the Robot Perception Group. His research focuses on multi-robot systems, especially aerial robots, and on robot perception, localization, and cooperative autonomy. His group developed the first fully autonomous outdoor motion-capture system using a team of vision-based flying robots that coordinate in formation to track subjects with high accuracy. Ahmad is relevant to Cyber Valley through his dual roles at the University of Stuttgart and MPI-IS, his leadership in the IMPRS-IS graduate school, and his contributions to the region’s core strengths in autonomous systems, perception, and learning robots.
