Achim Menges is a Professor at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) and Director of the Cluster of Excellence Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture (IntCDC) at the University of Stuttgart. An architect and design researcher, he develops integrative computational design methods, robotic manufacturing, and advanced material and building systems at the intersection of architecture, engineering, computer science, and robotics. His work spans biomimetic structures, distributed robotic construction, and sustainable, resource-efficient building technologies. Menges is relevant to Cyber Valley through his leadership of the IntCDC cluster, which includes the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems as a partner, and through the Cyber Valley Research Fund project "Task and Motion Planning for Collaborative Robotic Construction with Irregular Materials", which demonstrates how AI and robotics can transform sustainable construction.
