University of Tübingen; Ontic Labs
Professor; Co-Founder

Georg Martius is a Full Professor and Head of the Department for Distributed Intelligence / Autonomous Learning at the University of Tübingen, as well as a Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. His research focuses on autonomous learning, model-based reinforcement learning, world models, and machine learning for robotics—particularly how embodied agents can learn, plan, and adapt in complex real-world environments. Martius has also been involved in two Cyber Valley Research Fund projects. He is a Co-founder of Ontic Labs, a Tübingen-based startup developing foundation models for physical intelligence that learn how the physical world works from video and robot experience, as well as a member of the Cluster of Excellence “Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science” at the University of Tübingen. His academic and entrepreneurial work illustrates Cyber Valley’s transfer of foundational AI and robotics research into practical applications.
