Renate Sachse is a Cyber Valley Max Planck Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart. A civil engineer by training, she leads the "Mechanics for Intelligent Structures" group. Her research bridges structural mechanics, biomechanics, and AI, with potential applications in developmental biology, medicine, and bioinspired engineering. Before joining MPI-IS in January 2026, she was a postdoctoral researcher at TU Munich and Harvard University, following a PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Stuttgart. Her appointment strengthens Cyber Valley’s expansion into intelligent systems for the life sciences, connecting the region’s strengths in simulation science, robotics, and machine learning with biological research.
