Jan Knippers is a Professor at the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE) at the University of Stuttgart. His main areas of research include adaptive building, architecture and housing with a thematic priority on new materials and efficient support structures in architecture and bionics. He is also the Deputy Director of the Cluster of Excellence "Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture" (IntCDC).
