Kashyap Chitta is a Principal Investigator at the ELLIS Institute Tübingen, where he leads the Physical AI Lab. His research focuses on multimodal reasoning, causal world models, and the training and evaluation of physical AI systems, particularly autonomous vehicles. He is also co-founder and CTO of KE:SAI, a Tübingen- and Paris-based company building an open-source, compute- and data-efficient self-driving stack. Before joining ELLIS, Chitta completed his PhD at the University of Tübingen and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in NVIDIA’s Autonomous Vehicles Research group in Tübingen. His work is relevant to Cyber Valley because it connects foundational research on world models and embodied AI with industrial-scale autonomous driving and the region’s growing physical-AI ecosystem.
