Michael Sedlmair is the Director of Fraunhofer IGD and a Professor of “Visual Computing” in the Department of Computer Science at TU Darmstadt. Previously he was a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Stuttgart, where he directed the Human–Computer Interaction research group at the Visualization Research Center (VISUS) and the Institute for Visualization and Interactive Systems. His research combines interactive data visualization, visual analytics, augmented and virtual reality, and human–computer, human–data, and human–robot interaction. He also investigates the perceptual and cognitive foundations of effective interfaces for complex information. Sedlmair contributes an important human-centered perspective to the region’s AI ecosystem, translating algorithmic systems and data into intuitive, immersive, and socially useful forms of interaction. His work has also been supported by the Cyber Valley Research Fund.
