Tübingen AI Center & University of Tübingen
Director, Professor

Philipp Hennig is a Full Professor for the Methods of Machine Learning at the University of Tübingen and Director of the Tübingen AI Center. His research develops the algorithmic foundations of AI, focusing on probabilistic numerical methods, Gaussian processes, Bayesian inference, and the design of learning machines that are more efficient, interpretable, and reliable. He is also a co-founder of the AI company secondmind, which applies probabilistic machine learning to engineering and design. Hennigs leadership of the Tübingen AI Center and his role in the International Max Planck Research School for Intelligent Systems (IMPRS-IS) help advancing Tübingen’s position as a leading European hub for foundational machine-learning research.
