The Intelligent Control Systems group, led by Sebastian Trimpe, focused on decision-making, control, and learning for autonomous intelligent systems. It developed fundamental methods and algorithms that enable robots and other systems to interact with their environment through feedback, learn autonomously from data, and connect with each other in collaborative networks. A key aspect of the group’s work is translating mathematical and theoretical insights into improved autonomy and performance in real-world physical systems.

The group was active until April 2021. Sebastian Trimpe is now Professor at RWTH Aachen University.
