Hyosang Lee is an Assistant Professor of Robotics at Eindhoven University of Technology, where he works on intelligent tactile systems and robotic sensing. From October 2021 to May 2024, he was a Cyber Valley Research Group Leader at the University of Stuttgart, leading the Intelligent Tactile Systems group. His research develops tactile skins and data-driven methods for tactile signal processing, enabling robots and machines to sense, interpret, and respond to physical contact. Before his group-leadership role, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher and research scientist in Katherine Kuchenbecker’s Haptic Intelligence Department at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart. Lees work exemplifies the consortium’s integration of robotics, sensing, machine learning, and embodied intelligence, while his former group leadership directly contributed to the region’s research capacity in haptic and tactile AI.
