Teaching Specialist in Computer Engineering

The Tübingen AI Center at the University of Tübingen invites applications for the position of Teaching Specialist (Akademische Rätin / Akademischer Rat; m/f/d; 100%; A13 / E13 TV-L) in Computer Engineering (Technical Computer Science), to be filled at the earliest possible date on a permanent basis.

They are seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for teaching and a strong commitment to continuously developing and improving the core curriculum of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Computer Science.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

• Teaching a current load of 12 contact hours per week (SWS) per semester in both German and English, including at least one large foundational undergraduate course in the Bachelor's program in Computer Science at the University of Tübingen, particularly in the area of Computer Engineering (Technical Computer Science). Possible teaching areas include:

• Digital Logic Design
• Chip Design
• Computer Architecture
• Hardware/Software Co-Design
• Parallel Architectures
• Operating Systems
• Further developing teaching by designing and implementing innovative teaching methods and continuously improving existing course formats based on student evaluations and current research in higher education pedagogy.
• Supporting additional Bachelor's and Master's level courses in the field of Computer Engineering.
• Participating in collaborative research projects with professors of the Tübingen AI Center.
• Conducting independent research and, where appropriate, acquiring and leading externally funded research projects.

Requirements

Applicants should meet the following qualifications:

• A completed PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
• Several years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated outstanding teaching experience in the core areas of Computer Science.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills (minimum CEFR level C1).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Applicants are required to submit a detailed teaching statement outlining their vision for further developing the Computer Science curriculum at the University of Tübingen, including concrete proposals for new and innovative teaching methods and course formats.

Employment Conditions
