Where are you going, colleague AI?

Working with intelligent systems

Our working world is in a state of upheaval. A new collegue is among us. Sometimes you can see her, but most of the time she is invisible in devices, on a RAM or in a tablet. It is the new, self-learning algorithms, i.e. artificial forms of intelligent systems, which make our work visibly easier, but which also supervise us, instruct us, perhaps even command us at some point. Will they only help us or even replace us? How will they benefit us? It is important to shed light on the “black box”, to break down prejudices and to ask critical questions.

Panel discussion in German with Tenure-Track Prof. Maria Wirzberger, Prof. Steffen Staab, both speaker of the Interchange Forum for Reflecting on Intelligent Systems (IRIS), newly founded at the University of Stuttgart, and Prof. Christina Elmer, until 2019 deputy head of development at the SPIEGEL news magazine, now professor of digital journalism at TU Dortmund.

Opening event of the project “Questions for colleague AI” in the context of the Science Year 2022 – Inquired!

The project aims to collect, discuss and evaluate questions from citizens on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) in a co-creative dialog with science. In doing so, it aims to provide input for the future course of science, AI technology, and communication.
